Professional sharing learning achievements while illustrative AI suggestions highlight acquired skills

Skills Evidence & Recognition

You Learned It. You Proved It.Make It Count.

Courses, certifications, independent learning and real projects all help you grow. But the skills you gain aren’t always visible.

With hilighter, submit evidence of what you’ve learned or accomplished. AI analyzes it and suggests the relevant skills and proficiency levels, making your development easier to recognize and discuss.

  • AI-suggested skills and levels
  • Based on your own evidence
  • Your learning, more visible

How it works

From Achievement to Skills Insight

A simple, guided process: you bring the evidence, AI does the first analysis.

  1. 1

    Add an achievement

Describe completed training, a certification, assessed learning or a completed work project.

  2. 2

    Share supporting evidence

Add the training result, certificate, deliverable, report or other relevant proof you have.

  3. 3

    AI identifies relevant skills

AI interprets the material and proposes skills and proficiency levels the evidence reasonably supports.

  4. 4

    Make achievements useful

Review the suggested skills and use the documented results in skills and career conversations.

Your evidence

Any learning can become a source of recognized skills

Formal or informal, every achievement counts.

  • Training result
  • Certification
  • Project or job realization
  • Self-directed learning

AI pre-analysis

AI turns your evidence into skill suggestions

It removes much of the manual work of translating a document into a skills profile.

  • Reading the evidence
  • Identifying relevant skills
  • Suggesting proficiency levels
  • Preparing proposals to review

Visible skills

Your growth, connected to skills

Link evidence to skills instead of leaving achievements in scattered files or CV bullet points.

  • Skills linked to evidence
  • Suggested levels you can review
  • A basis for career conversations

AI-suggested is not the same as independently verified: suggestions are a starting point for review.

The problem

Learning Happens Everywhere. Recognition Doesn’t.

Not every important skill comes from a formal classroom. You might complete an online course after work, earn an industry certification, learn a tool independently or take on a demanding project.

Yet those achievements often remain in forgotten emails, certificates, course platforms and project documents. Your skills move forward, but your skills profile does not. That’s frustrating for people, and a missed opportunity for employers who don’t see what their teams have learned.

Invisible self-learning

Learning outside assigned training goes unnoticed.

Forgotten achievements

Certificates and completed projects stay disconnected from skills.

Unclear proficiency

Finishing an activity doesn’t explain what skills someone has developed.

No more learning that goes unrecognized.

Why hilighter

Turn Achievements into Skills People Can See

  • Bring all kinds of learning together

Record formal training, online courses, certifications, assessed results and meaningful work accomplishments in one place.

  • Let AI do the first analysis

hilighter examines the information and evidence to suggest relevant competencies and possible proficiency levels.

  • Make growth more visible

Connect evidence to skills rather than leaving achievements in disconnected files or CV bullet points.

  • A better basis for career conversations

Use documented achievements and suggested levels to discuss progress, development and future opportunities.

Types of achievements

Your Growth Is More Than a Training Certificate

  • Training results

Show what you studied, completed and, when available, how you performed.

  • Certifications

Connect external credentials and assessed achievements with relevant competencies. hilighter does not issue or authenticate third-party credentials.

  • Projects and on-the-job accomplishments

Document what you actually contributed or delivered: a launch, an improvement, a new process, a presentation or an implementation.

  • Self-directed learning

Make independent study visible, even when your employer did not organize it. The strength of the skill claim depends on the evidence.

Practical example

The Course That Finally Counts

Emma independently takes a data visualization course and applies what she learned to a reporting dashboard for her team. Before, the certificate might have stayed in her inbox while her skills profile stayed unchanged.

With hilighter, she records the training and a description of the dashboard work, attaches the evidence and lets AI propose related skills, such as data visualization and reporting, with levels the material supports. Those suggestions are a concrete starting point for review and career conversations.

Completing a course alone does not prove advanced professional mastery: the depth of the evidence matters.

From “I completed a course” to “Here are the capabilities I can demonstrate.”

Why it matters

Value for Everyone Involved

  • For employees

Make learning and achievements more visible and easier to communicate.

  • For independent learners

Show the value of development that happened outside formal training.

  • For managers

Get a clearer picture of what people are learning, with traceable supporting information.

  • For HR & L&D

Connect documented achievements with a fuller understanding of workforce skills.

FAQs

What achievements can I submit?

For example completed training, training results, certifications and meaningful work or project accomplishments, with the supporting evidence you have.

Can I submit self-directed learning?

Yes. The goal is to make learning visible, including learning your employer did not assign. Suggested levels reflect the quality of the information you provide.

Does hilighter issue a new certification?

No. Extracting skills from a certificate or document is different from issuing or authenticating a qualification.

Does AI automatically prove my proficiency?

No. AI proposes skills and levels inferred from your evidence. Where formal validation is needed, it follows a human review, for example by your manager.

Does a training certificate prove an advanced skill level?

Not necessarily. Completing a course, performing in an assessment and applying a skill at work are different kinds of evidence.

Who can see the files I upload?

Access depends on your organization’s settings in hilighter and on our Privacy Policy.

Is hilighter free?

Yes. Skills Evidence & Recognition is a Core feature, included in every plan, including the Free plan (up to 3 job roles). See the Pricing page.
